Deng Xiaoping theory was formed amid the active ideological struggles against the"Leftist"and liberalist trends of thought.In his efforts to lead the exploration of socialism with Chinese characteristics,he held firmly to the Marxist ideological line and political stand,criticized the wrong viewpoints of the two trends of thought,gave theoretical answers to their challenges to Marxism,constantly deepened and innovated the understanding of"what is socialism and how to build socialism"and advanced a series of new theories and inferences.All these led to the final formation of Deng Xiaoping theory.
