交通近代化过程中人力车与电车的矛盾分析

作为民国城市的新旧两种交通工具，人力车与电车的矛盾接连不断。在所有的冲突中，人力车夫因生计被剥夺而痛恨电车，电车虽为先进交通工具，却也不得不在触犯众怒的歉疚中小心谨慎。而政府在处理这对矛盾时，也经常陷入对人力车与电车的双重同情之中。总之，人力车与电车的矛盾，是交通近代化过程中新旧两种交通工具的较量，虽然暂时难有赢家，但电车取代人力车，则是历史的必然。人力车与电车冲突的根源，主要在于取缔人力车的同时，如何安置好众多人力车夫的生计。政府处理不好这一问题，将会把自己带人到革命的漩涡之中。

An Analysis of Contradictions Between Rickshaw and Tram in the Process of Transportation Modernization

Being two means of transportation in all cities and towns in Republican China, rickshaw and tram produced continuous contradictions. During most of the frictions, rickshaw men hated tram to the utmost degree for having deprived their means of livelihood. At the same time. advanced means of transportation as it was, tram had no choice but making concessions carefully to avoid offending the interests of most rickshaw men. While dealing with the contradiction, the government was also always caught in a dilemma for sympathizing both. All in all ,the contradiction between rickshaw and tram was a contest between old and new means of transportation during the process of transport modernization.Although neither could win in short time, the outcome of rickshaw being replaced by tram was unavoidable. The fundamental cause of the contradiction lies in how to perfectly settle down the livelihood of most rickshaw men while prohibiting the rickshaw. If this problem could not be handled perfectly, the government would put itself into a troublesome movement of revolution.
