唐《韦曙墓志》考释校补

韦曙是唐代宰相韦执谊之子，墓志由其弟韦昶撰写，提供了韦执谊家族及其诸子情况的珍贵资料。结合《韦曙墓志》与传世史料考证可知，韦执谊家族对于光大门楣有着强烈之渴望。其长子韦曙，三十六岁始登科入仕，由州郡幕僚至左拾遗、尚书省郎官、尚书右丞、京兆少尹、太常少卿，历常州、郑州、苏州、福州、广州等地刺史、节度，终官岭南节度使兼广州刺史。韦曙兄弟六人，至韦曙去世时，唯韦昶与韦绚在世。昶与绚为兄弟二人，可破历来以绚为昶改名之说。

A Supplementary Interpretation of the Epitaph in the Tang-Dynasty Wei Shu's Tomb

Wei Shu was the son of the Tang-Dynasty’s Grant Counsellor Wei Zhiyi.The epitaph in Wei Shu’s tomb was written by his younger brother Wei Chang.The epitaph provides valuable historical material of the Wei Zhiyi family and his sons.Combining the Wei Shu’s epitaph and related transmitted historical documents,it can be seen that the Wei Zhiyi family had a strong desire to bring glory to the family.As the eldest son of the family,Wei Shu started his political career at the age of 36.He began as a chief of staff to prefecture and county governors,followed by a series of promotion,from the chief inspector of the Left Division,the Langguan officer of the Shangshu Department(Department of State Affairs),the Youcheng deputy head of the Shangshu Department(Department of State Affairs),the Shaoyin assistant to the governor of the Jingzhao capital,to the Shaoqing officer of the Taichang Department.He was also commanders or commissioner of Changzhou,Zhengzhou,Suzhou,Fuzhou and Guangzhou.He ended his political career as the commissioner of Lingnan and commander of Guangzhou.Wei Shu had five siblings,but when he died,only Wei Chang and Wei Xuan were still alive.The epitaph clearly states that Wei Chang and Wei Xuan were Wei Shu’s brothers.This also helps to clarify previous suggestions that Wei Chang later on changed his name to Wei Xun.
