| Abstract: | Based on the documents of the Manufacture Department (zaoban chu) of the Internal Ministry (neiwu fu) of the Qing dynasty as well as records in art history books, the article focuses on the relationship of court painters Tang Dai and Zhang Yusen. It goes further to explore the influence of the Four Wangs' painting on the court landscape painting and the reasons why the Four Wangs' painting and their school became the "Orthodox" in painting of the Qing dynasty. |
