“山南道”之成立

"山南"在两晋、北魏之世,主要指今南阳、商洛地区;西魏、北周时代,渐扩展到荆襄、梁汉及巴峡,包括今陕豫二省南部、湖北与重庆大部及川东地区。唐代的"山南道",实为承绪西魏北周以来"山南"的地域观念和政治格局而来,并非仅据"山川形便"所划定。

The Origin and Making of the"Shannan Dao"

The geographical idea of "Shannan" in the West and East Jin,North Wei,would be used for indicating the area of Nanyang and Shangluo.In the West Wei and North Zhou,it was used for indicating the large area that included the Southern Shanxi Province,Southern Henan Province,the great mass of Hubei Province and Chongqing City,and Eastern Sichuan Province.The "Shannan Dao",one among the "Dicker Dao" were compartmentalized in the Zhenguan Era,should be followed the geographical idea about "Shannan" and the structure of political geography in the West Wei and North Zhou,and could not be measured off only based on the principle that be summed up "topographic and traffic advantage".
