清代中叶的汉宋之争与桐城派——以清国史馆《儒林传》初稿为中心

汉宋之争是清学史上的重要问题,嘉庆中叶编纂的清国史馆<儒林传>初稿,比较集中地反映了这一时期汉宋学术争论的实况.主张汉学的史稿编修者,效仿<明史>中只设儒林传,不为道学家立专传的体例,在具体编修中将主张宋学的桐城学者列入较为时人所轻视的<文苑传>中,以达到扬汉抑宋、为汉学争取儒学正统的目的,以致时至今日,桐城派依然被主要视为一个文学流派,桐城学者也主要被看做是文学家,他们在古文、辞章之外的其他成就,长期没有得到应有的重视.
