魏宏运教授是中国现代史研究的知名专家,是20世纪50年代最早投身中国现代史研究的学者之一。他在主持华北抗日根据地史料的收集整理,率先与国外学者合作进行口述史调查研究,改进、拓宽民国社会史研究的方法与领域,培养中国现代史研究领域的年轻学者,积极推动中国现代史研究参与国际学术交流等方面,做出卓越的成就。

As one of the famous scholars on the modern Chinese history research, Professor Wei Hong yun was one of the early scholars who pioneered the modern Chinese history studies. He presided over the projects on historical material collections of Northern China Anti-Japanese Base and cooperated with Japanese scholars on the oral historical research on North China village. This greatly contributed to renewing the method and broadening the research sphere of modern Chinese history. He has also fostered a lot of creative young scholars and promoted the modern Chinese history studies to participate in the international academic exchanges.
