| Abstract: | The ceramic cattle excavated from different pits in the Yangling Mausoleum carried different symbolic meanings.The cattle found on the east side of the tumulus were used either for food prepared for the soul of the emperor or used for transportation in the imperial palace in his afterlife.Meanwhile,the ones found on the south side of the tumulus represent the military reserve of bullock carts for the Northern Army.Lastly,the herds of ceramic cattle found in pit No.1 of No.9 represent the wealth the emperor ... |
