铁路筹建与清末广西边防

广西边防建设在相当长一段时间内没有铁路建设的内容,这与清政府对铁路建设态度的转变有一定联系。但广西铁路的筹建确实又缘起于加强广西边防的考虑,首先比较清楚地意识到加强广西边防建设必须修建广西铁路的是广西巡抚张鸣岐,他在全面考量广西边防总体战略部署之后提出了广西边防战略交通网的规划,并以其中的桂邕铁路为基础进一步提出了广西铁路线网规划。

Railway construction hadn't been taken into account in the course of Guangxi's construction of border defense for a long time, which was certainly linked with the Qing Dynasty's change of the attitude to it. Planning on railway building indeed originated from the thought of enhancing Guangxi's border defense. Zhang Mingqi was the first person to realize that railway construction was the way to enhance the border defense in Gunagxi. After investigating comprehensively Guangxi's strategic border situation, he put forward a plan for the strategic railway transportation network of border defense, and further planned to build Guangxi's railway systems on the base of the line from Guilin to Nanning which was contained in the former networks.
