Bai Shouyi and the Chinese Historical Studies in the 20th Century

Professor Bai Shouyi had tight relation to the Chinese Historiography of the twentieth century. For the first, he had realized a transit from a patriot to a Marxist which was the same road that a group of advanced historiographer had experienced in the twentieth century. Second, he was famous for his complete erudition, perfect knowledge of his major and incisive insight, which only those diligent and creative Scholars of historiogrophy could attain. Third, he had exerted himself more for the Chinese historical field in the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century such as insisting Marxism in historical studies, advocating historical education, dedicating serials academic organizations and finishing a great project as the compilation of %Chinese General History %, all of which could be done by fewer scholars. As an excellent creator of Chinese historiography in the new period, professor Bai Shouyi merits it.
