Abstract:A new monotypic genus of cheirurine trilobite, Azyptyx, is described based on the new species A. toongabbiensis from Early Devonian (late Lochkovian) limestones of the Wurutwun Formation near Toongabbie, Victoria. A feature of the genus that is unusual for the subfamily is a continuous basal glabellar furrow (S1) that does not normally meet the occipital furrow medially.
