日美安保体制中的冲绳问题

Okinawa Issue in Japanese-American Security System

The American military base in Okinawa is the core content to maintain Japanese-American security system.In the 1960s,the U.S.military forces and State Department had differences over whether Okinawa should be returned to Japan.The side that advocated the return finally got the upper hand,because their strategic intent was to take the return of Okinawa as a chance to further enhance the validity of Japanese-American security system as the base of American Asian strategy,thus forcing Japan to assume more responsibility for military defense in the Asia Pacific region.
