Abstract:A series of 11 commonly occurring skull measurements for 53 early British samples were considered. These had dates extending from Neolithic to Medieval times. It is shown, by a multivariate analysis of this data, that even a restricted number of cranial dimensions can still show considerable morphological divergence in these earlier populations. Also, it seems clear from the data employed that some geographical variation may well occur in physique during some culture phases.
