Vice-Premier Chen Yi in Tibet

On February 9, 1955, the State Council adopted the resolution on the Founding of the Preparatory Committee for the Founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region. A founding ceremony was held in Lhasa on April 22 the following year attended by a delegation sent by the Central Government. It was led by Vice Premier Chen Yi, with Zhang Jingwu and Wang Feng as its deputy heads.
