Introduction to Carlo Ginzburg's Microhistory

Ginzburg developed a school of one's own in the field of the contemporary Western Historiography. His background and influence reflected the general orientation of microhistory. The microhistory of Carlo Ginzburg characteristically focuses on small groups or individuals and is very sensitive to the variability and particularity of historical sources. Methodologically, Ginzburg takes a nominative approach combined with conjectural paradigm. He considers narrative as the best presentation form of history.
