Abstract: | The authors analyze structural shifts in the industry of Eastern Europe, resulting from priority development of heavy industry, particularly machinery and chemicals. They describe new trends in economic location such as industrialization of once underdeveloped areas and the increasing tendency to locate new industrial projects in international boundary zones on the basis of an international division of labor. |
