The Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenia

The history of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenia is reviewd against the background of the problems of development resulting from the desert environment. Gas production was limited to small utilization of West Turkmen oil-field gas until the start of development of large natural-gas deposits at Achak and elsewhere in northeast and southeast Turkmenia.
