Interview with Michael J. Hogan

Institution:Born in Waterloo, Iowa, in 1943, Hogan received his bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa. Since 1986, he has been a professor of history at Ohio State University and editor of Diplomatic History.;The author of three books and 23 articles and essays, the editor or coeditor of four volumes on major historical controversies surrounding World War II and the Cold War, and the consultant for films, television documentaries, and exhibitions on the Marshall Plan, Hogan is a leading figure in the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. Since 1993, he has also chaired the history department at Ohio State. Hogan and his wife, Virginia, have four children and live in Columbus, where this interview was conducted in September, 1998 by Roger Adelson.
