On Disputes of Territory Claimed by Malaysia in the South China Sea

The disputes of territory claimed by Malaysia in the South China Sea mainly focus on the claims of some islands and reefs of the Spratlys, Pulau Sipadan and Pulau Ligitan of the Celebes Sea, as well as Pulau Batu Puteh of the Strait of Singapore. For the claim of some islands and reefs of the Spratlys, Malaysia's basis is that those islands and reefs are "on its claimed continental shelf ". However, this kind of basis is contrary to the basic principles of the International Law of "the land dominates the ocean". In the disputes of the two small islands of the Celebes Sea, the International Court of Justice has recently judged their sovereignty to Malaysia according to the continually actual jurisdiction. This case will henceforth set an example for solving similar international disputes.
