A Study on the Changes of the Jurisdiction of Huaiyang State(County) in the Western Han Dynasty

There are three periods in the change of the state fiefdoms of Huaiyang in the Western Han Dynasty.During the first period from Gaodi to Jingdi,Huaiyang changed frequently between counties and states,and its fiefdoms increased and decreased.The second period is from the third year of Jingdi to the third year of Yuankang,Xuandi.The eastern and northern boundaries of Huaiyang county were continuously expanded and successively obtained some regions of Chu and Liang states.In the third period,Xuandi reset Huaiyang until Xinmang,and when the state was removed,the territory of Huaiyang was greatly reduced.The“middle zone”of Huaiyang state was the geographical basis for the change of its fiefdoms,and the change of Han government’s policy to the vassal states further promoted the change of fiefdoms.
