Abstract: | AbstractVisitors to the Acropolis of Athens today confront not only the monuments, but also a fully developed worksite, set up in order to support the monuments' restoration. Until recently, there had been no systematic attempt to assess the visitors' opinion about the large-scale endeavour of restoration carried out on the Acropolis, or to evaluate the effect of the works on the visitors' experience. With a view to filling the existing gap the Acropolis Restoration Service conducted a visitors' survey in 2006. The article presents the results of this survey and attempts an interpretation of the visitors' response, before reaching some conclusions about the visitors' disposition towards the restoration of the Acropolis monuments. |
