本文描述張之洞的情報網絡在戊戌政變前後的表現。張之洞在京的政治情報網絡,除了前文提及的楊鋭外,還有在京的至親至朋,因故入京的湖北官員也充當了他的臨時探員。此外,張之洞派其親信趙鳳昌坐鎮上海,另在上海、天津雇傭了專門的情報員。從張之洞與他們之間的密電往來,可以看清當時的許多政情與輿情。

Telegrams and confidential letters between Zhang Zhidong and Beijing,Tianjin and Shanghai around 1898 Reform (Wuxu Bianfa)

This paper described Zhang Zhidong’s information network and its function around 1898 Reform (Wuxu Bianfa). This network included Yang Rui, as discussed in last paper, relatives and friends in Beijing, and Hubei officials who went to Beijing for reasons. Zhang sent Zhao Fengchang set in Shanghai, hired informants in Shanghai and Tianjin, too. Many political and public issues can be seen from the telegrams between them.
