An Applied Linguistic Insight into Ironic Coinages in Chinese |

| Abstract: | This paper considers a couple of current forms of irony and ironic coinages in Chinese. It conducts analyses of the linguistic formations of ironic coinages and the factors of cultural conventions. It also carries out a sociolinguistic quantitative survey of the ironic coinages in order to describe to what extent the coinages comply with the conventional expression in Chinese language. |
