The Fiscal Policy of the Southern Confederate Government in the American Civil War

In the American Civil War the main aim of the Southern Confederate Government' fiscal policy was raising fund for war effort.For this purpose it adopted various methods on tax,issue of note of treasure and stocks and bonds.With minimal fiscal incomes from tax,the Southern Confederate Government had obtained most of its fiscal incomes by issuing notes of treasure and bonds.This policy brought a certain amount of disposable money for the Southern Confederate Government.Yet without a large and strong social fiscal foundation and with no strong foreign financial support,this kind of fiscal policy ended in failure.Southern Confederate Government did not obtain sufficient money for its war effort,even worse,this policy stimulated inflation and high price,therefore discouraged southern people and precipitated the Southern Confederates' defeat.
