"The Establishment of Guard Region" and the Attack on Liao in Xinyouchao

This thesis makes a new study on the position of arguable "Tieling " after analyzing some important historical materials. It puts forward that the original idea for the Ming dynasty to set up the guard command is an affirmation to taking Yalujiang River as its northeastern borderline as well as a primary action to enlist the Nvzhen residents living in the northeastern part of Korean peninsula. The northeastern borderline between Ming and Gaoli was at last radicated in Yongle period. That Gaoli dispatched troops to attack Liao was the representation of its consistent incline of expansion, and was also the result of the contradiction conflict between pro-Yuan group and Pro-Ming group, and so the matter of the establishment of guard region offered a pretext for it.
