A Study of Overseas Chinese Intermediary's Economic Position in Southeast Asia in the Early 20 th Century

Chinese overseas intermediaries have been an important economic force in Southeast Asia since 17th century . In the early 20th century,the economic power of the intermediaries varied in different regions as they were engaged in different economic sections. Because their economic activities were restricted by the colonialists and the poor indigenous markets, their economic position was passive and development were unstable.
