| Abstract: | The Palace Museum contains several tens of thousands of Ming and Qing inked "blueprints" or plans (zhimo) and on the basis of these ancient inked patterns, the author examines the blueprints used by sculptors and carvers. He focuses on the main decorative motifs and the changes in carving methods to discuss the different characteristics and styles of carving in different periods and reveals the pattern of evolution of this art from the Ming to the Qing Dynasty. |
