王莽营建东都问题探讨

王莽在即位后,着手营建东都洛阳,并有迁都的动机。其原因在于从军事地理角度,长安已经没有了汉初的重要作用;而移民导致人口压力过大,人地矛盾突出,及由此衍生出的侈糜的俗尚;王莽对古文经的笃信;洛阳在秦汉时期一直占据很重要的战略地位。最终光武帝刘秀完成了迁都。

A Discussion about the Problem on Wangmang Building Eastern Capital

When Wangmang(王莽) became the emperor, he began to build the Eastern Capital and wanted to move there. Chang’an(长安) had lost the action which had possessed at the beginning of Han Dynasty from military geography. Migrant led to population improving and the contradiction between the population and land became outstanding. Furthermore, the customs also became luxurious. Wangmang(王莽) believed in ancient classical. Luoyang(洛阳) was always important in strategy in Qin and Han Dynasty. All of these were the reasons why Wangmang wanted to move the capital to Luoyang. At last Liuxiu(刘秀) completed the taste.
