The production of distiller's yeast,especially the brewing of Fen Liquor,became more prosperous in Shanxi during the Qing period,and Fen Liquor was better known in both domestic and overseas markets.It was Shanxi merchants who invested and engaged in the production and trade of distiller's yeast in North China and Jiang-Huai area,while the flourishing liquor business in Beijing was mostly monopolized by Shanxi merchants,too.All of these show that Shanxi merchants formed an important power in the business of distiller's yeast.
