A Study On Development Strategy of Shanghai Urban Tourism

The paper starts with an elaboration the intrinsic implications and features of urban tourism. The paper further explores development strategies of urban tourism from both macro and micro perspectives. The macro strategy focuses on the coordination of districts and areas in metropolis, specifying the relationship between city development and tourism industry, integrating tourism planning in the overall city planning and exploring indicators that may impact on the interaction between the two parties. In the moderate-scale, the co-working between metropolitan tourism industry and relative industries accounts for the most important strategy. The micro strategy aims at establishing an effective and efficient logistical system for metropolis tourism by improving all levels of hospitality facilities, expanding the supporting system to more service industries and facilitating the branding of the metropolitan destinations. Finally, the paper discusses the trends of urban tourism, such as promoting sustainable development strategy, motivating regional connection, strengthening industry corporations, encouraging the participation of science and technology in tourism planning, stressing recourseintensive development and accelerating infonnization etc.
