论陈独秀在上海大学创建中的作用

The Role of Chen Du -xiu in Founding and Developing Shanghai University

Chen Du -xiu,a political leader and cultural celebrity,deeply affected the founding and developing of Shanghai University in the 1920s.Being a pioneer of the May Fourth New Culture Movement and a star in the ideological circle,he was obviously admired by teachers and students of Southeast Normal College,predecessor of Shanghai University.His new culture and ideas became spiritual resources of the reformists in Southeast Normal College.At the same time,the newly founded Social-ist Youth League somehow influenced the radical students’plan and action of reforming the college.Due to the social influence of being the celebrity,Chen Du -xiu was proposed by the students to be their principal at the beginning of reorganization.As the leader of CPC,Chen Du -xiu appointed Chen Wang -dao to hold a post in Shanghai University after its establishment,and exerted some influence on the school administration by guiding the Party and League members’activities.Meanwhile,his thoughts and views played an important role in guiding the spirits of Shanghai University through the activities of teachers and students who were also Party and League members.Dominant social influence of being a cultural celebrity and recessive opera-tion of Party organization were for the main methods by Chen Du -xiu to influence the founding and developing of Shanghai U-niversity and to guide the university students.
