能否维持现状:蒋介石、宋哲元如何处理七七事变之争

1937年7月8日至28日,蒋介石、宋哲元围绕如何处理七七事变产生争议。蒋介石认为七七事变不可能得到和平解决,多次要求宋哲元坐镇保定,准备应战。宋哲元则拒绝,幻想对日妥协以维持第29军继续坐镇华北的地位。蒋介石也曾通过各种渠道和平解决,一方面表示中央与地方的立场一致,一方面设法由中央政府管控对日交涉。这场争议以宋哲元是否到保定坐镇为始终,以能否维持现状为焦点。在日本使华北"明朗化"的既定侵略步伐下,宋哲元不可能维持现状,只能到保定坐镇,蒋宋二人的争议告一段落。

Dispute on How to Deal with July 7 Incident to Maintain the Status Quo between Chiang Kai -shek and Sung Che -yuan

There’s a dispute on how to deal with July 7 Incident between Chiang Kai -shek and Sung Che -yuan from July 8th to 28th ,1937.Chiang Kai -shek thought the incident couldn’t be solved peacefully and so asked Sung Che -yuan go to Baoding to take ready to be agaist Japanese invasion again and again.Sung Che -yuan disobeyed the order.He dreamed to compromise with Japanese Garrison in order to maintain the 29th Army’s place in North China.Chiang Kai -shek also looked for some ways to solve the incident peacefully,because he wanted to show the united stand of the central government and the local government on one hand,and to take the negotiation with Japan under the control of the central government on the other. Generally speaking,the key points of the dispute were that Sung Che -yuan should come to Baoding or not,and the status quo in North China could be maintain or not.Under Japanese determined plan of invading North China,Sung Che -yuan couldn’t maintain the status quo and had to go to Baoding.By thus,the dispute between Chiang Kai -shek and Sung Che -yuan came to end.
