The Revolutionaries 'Anti-Manchu Propaganda towards the Overseas Chinese of Southeast Asia prior to the 1911 Revolution: A Case Study on Chong Shing Yit Pao

Through a study on Chong Shing Yit Pao with a focus on the viewpoints presented in the newspaper,this article expounds the key points of anti-Manchu nationalism argued and propagandized by the revolutionaries prior to the 1911 Revolution,together with an analysis of the impact and influence generated by the anti-Manchu ultranationalism.While emphasizing the positive impact brought about by the anti-Manchu propaganda such as the widely awakening of national consciousness among Overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia,which in turn promoted the development of revolution,the author points out the flaws of propaganda.The so-called nationalism,for instance,contained a strong racialist element,which was unadvisable.
