Affiliation: | teaches history at Northern Virginia Community College, Woodbridge Campus. He is currently completing a study of nationalism in the bicultural social world of Tsiang T'ing-fu (1895–1965), the late Nationalist Chinese ambassador to the United Nations and, before that, Republican China's most distinguished diplomatic historian.;now professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, did his graduate work at Yale. His publications have won three Bernath awards and include The Making of a Special Relationship: The United States and China to 1914;(1983) and Ideology and U.S. Foreign Policy (1987). Chinese Communist images of the United States and the Cold War in Asia currently command his interests. |
