Abstract: | AbstractTwo discoveries of pottery kilns at Brill, Buckinghamshire, during construction work in 1974 and 1975 are described. One, a fairly complete kiln, is dated to the early seventeenth century and two others to the latter half of that century. The last working Brill kiln of 19th-century date was also re-discovered. The longevity of the industry is briefly discussed and the products of the post-medieval phase described. |
