Affiliation: | J. Norman Reid is the deputy dircctor for rual development in the Agriculture and Rural Economy Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Economic Research Service. He is currently on detail to the Office of the USDA Secretary, where he chairs the task force planning for the creation of the Rural Development Administrtion. His publications have dealt wth rural economic and social trends in the U.S. and OECD countries, entrepreneuriship, rural development policy, public infrastructure, government and programs, and regioal governanc, and include Rural Public Management;(OECD, 1986) and Rural Economic Development in the 1980s (coauthored, USDA, 1988). David W. Sears is head of the government and development policy (GDP) section in the USDA Economic Research Service. The GDP section conducts a wide variety of policy-relevant research projects aimed at examining approaches that might stimulate rural development or overcome barriers to rural development. Sears earned his Ph.D. in city and regional planning from Cornell University, and taught for several years in the regional planning program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. |
