The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry And the Institutionalization of Chinese Business Networks in Asia

The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) played an important role in the institutionalization of Chinese business networks in Asia. No matter seen from its perpendicular relations or its horizontal ties, the SCCCI served as the hub where were joined the Chinese business networks of Southeast Asia and of East Asia. The organization itself developed continuously in its efforts constructing the social and business networks of overseas Chinese, with the ever maturing and institutionalized Chinese business networks exerting profound influences on the interaction between overseas Chinese society and China in the 20th century. At the same time, it became also an indispensable link in the processes of localization, regionalization and globalization.
