Abstract:Ground sections of the teeth of five humans from the burial grounds of Bronze Age Kalmykia (Russia) were studied. In the teeth of an old man and a child we found no cementum layers. In three other individuals (15–30 years old), analysis of the cementum layers allowed us to estimate age-at-death and season of death. The estimated seasons of death coincided with the seasons of the burials assessed using other methods. This investigation revealed the possibility of assessing the season of death of ancient humans less than 30 years old with permanent dentition, when several teeth in alveoli from the same specimen are available.
