Exorcistic Vessels from an Eastern Han Burial on the Eastern Outskirt of Xianyang City

This paper introduces three zhenmuping exorcistic vessels which have been discovered in an Eastern Han Dynasty tomb in the Weicheng Area of Xianyang City.Two rows of characters,tianlizijieshizhu(天李子解尸注) and taiyiliudingjiexuxing(大一六丁解虚星),were inscribed in vermilion on the surface of vessels.The author proposes an explanation of these terms,which can serve as new information for the study of Taoism and mortuary practices in the Eastern Han Dynasty.
