The Policy Transformation of the United States for the Independent Movement in the Spanish American Colonies and Its Influence

After the outbreak of the war for independence in the Spanish American colonies,the United States in the same hemisphere faced immediately both a challenge and an opportunity.On the one hand,the decision-makers of American administrations were worried that the European powers would have a chance to fill"the vacuum"of power lost by Spain in the Americas.On the other hand,they argued that the war would provide a good opportunity to expand its influence.The United States eventually became the first nation to recognize the independent governments of Latin America.The policy shift of the United States had a positive impact on the process of the independence movement of Latin America and opened the prelude to including Latin America into the American sphere of influence.
