A Successful Road to the Development and Prosperity of Socialist Culture: On the "Double Hundred" Principle and "Double Serve" Orientation

From 1956 when Mao Zedong set forth the principle of "let a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend" to 1980 when Deng Xiaoping pointed out the orientation for literature and art to serve the people and socialism, the Communist leaders combined Marxism with the practice of revolution and construction in China and formulated a whole series of general principles and policies of socialist literature and art. During the implementation of these general principles and policies they further advanced specific principles, policies, requirements and approaches such as "make the past serve the present and foreign things serve China", blazing a road to success for the development and prosperity of socialist culture in China.
