江苏省红色旅游与文物保护开发的实证研究

近年来,红色旅游发展为江苏省旅游发展带来了新的机遇,也对市场经济条件下的文物保护事业提出了新的挑战。从分析江苏省红色旅游与文物保护的现状入手,通过问卷调查、现场访谈等方式进行实证研究,提出了红色旅游与文物保护的互动发展模式,并在此基础上提出了具有可操作性的发展对策。     

Black-and-White Photography in Batcham: From a Golden Age to Decline (1970–1990)

In this article, I explore the biographies of three professional black-and-white photographers of the 1970s from Batcham, West Cameroon. They are Edouard Fofou, alias Photo-Edouard; Michel Kenne, also known as Photo-Kmichel and Gaspard Vincent Tatang, alias Tagavince. They and their work stands as an example of the very many African photographers whose work could be archived but probably will not be. If we know of a few celebrated names like Malik Sidibe but not Vincent Tatang it is as much by chance as anything else. This then is an exploration of a possible but unrealized archive. What we could call an archival path not taken.     

Earthquake Faulting Effects on Buried Pipelines – Case History and Centrifuge Study

Permanent ground deformation (PGD) is one of the most damaging hazards for continuous buried lifelines. This hazard is especially severe when the PGD results in net compression in the pipe. In that case, buckling of pipe material can occur. If buckling is moderate, deformation of the pipe cross-section can lead to flow restriction and high friction losses, and eventually require line replacement. If buckling is severe, high localized strains can lead to pipe rupture, loss of contents, and possible pollution of surrounding soil. In this article, centrifuge tests of buried pipelines subject to abrupt ground failure in the form of surface faulting are presented. The fault movement results in mostly compression in the pipe. The test results are compared with a case history of pipe failure in the 1999 Izmit, Turkey earthquake and also with the results from the centrifuge tests which result in net tension in the pipe. The experimental setup, procedures, and instrumentation are described in detail. Suggestions for design practice are offered based on the analysis of results from both the 1999 Izmit case history and the centrifuge modeling.     

《钝斋文选》与《南山集》案

明末清初的方孝标<钝斋文选>,为理清康熙时代最大文字狱<南山集>案的重要文献.清廷以<钝斋文选>中的<滇黔纪闻>为方孝标所定三项罪行,按之<钝斋文选>皆不能成立.康熙皇帝却将错就错铸成<南山集>案.雍正明知此案"中有隐情",在矫枉时故意留条尾巴.既维护了康熙的权威,又显示了自己的恩泽.人们从中也能窥测到某些历史的奥秘.     

下颌托——一个被忽视的祆教文化遗物

2001年9月在重庆奉节宝塔坪发掘唐代墓葬时,发现了墓主头骨上戴着下颌托,这个奇特的器物引起笔者的兴趣。经过查找资料,发现下颌托以唐墓为多,在辽墓、南宋墓中也曾出土过,流传时间至少700年,延续时间不可谓不长;在宁夏、河南、湖北、重庆、江西都有其身影,分布不可谓不广。但是发现的数量极少,给人以若有若无之感。这种奇特之物,它寄托着什么观念?它有怎样     

北宋前期审刑院与宰相的司法复审权

审刑院设立于宋太宗淳化二年,罢废于神宗元丰三年,专门负责天下上奏的疑难案件的复审工作,是北宋前期国家最高司法机构之一。审刑院的设立,对宰相的司法权产生了很大的影响,双方对中央司法复审权的争夺十分激烈:在宋初,宰相拥有充分的司法复审权;太宗淳化二年审刑院设立后,宰相淡出司法复审领域,审刑院完全掌握了复审权;从仁宗中期开始,随着相权的整体攀升,宰相的司法权不断扩大,最终使审刑院由独立于宰相到沦为其附属。     

晚清民国乌鲁木齐地区村落类型与社会治理——以个案分析为中心

晚清民国乌鲁木齐地区的村落,根据人口结构不同,可以分为宗族、地理相近与地理相错三种类型。由于三种类型村落的自治程度不同,造成了政府对其治理方式上存在区别,也突出了国家对其控制力上存在差别。文章主要以村落个案分析为中心,针对每种类型的村落,以个案的形式说明村落类型与治理之间的关系及反映出的乡村社会治理的空间差异性。     

大跃进时期基层干群冲突及司法介入研究--以肥西县“方世新案”为中心

"方世新案"是大跃进与人民公社化时期安徽省肥西县发生的比较典型的因干群矛盾与冲突升级而导致的"凶杀"案。该案最终被定性为反党、反社会主义的反革命案件。官方处理此类案件,审判程序极为简化,即根据《中华人民共和国惩治反革命条例》作出判决。就审判过程而言,加强党的集中领导与管控、贯彻群众路线及考虑案犯罪恶的历史与现行关系,是大跃进与人民公社化时期中共最为重要的司法实践逻辑。这种逻辑也对应体现了这个时期司法发展历程的3个面向,即:司法政党化、司法群众化及司法革命化。但这3个方面的实践,最终将难免矮化司法的独立性、专属性及程序化,即会产生"秩序",也会导致"失序"。该项研究为探访大跃进时期基层干群冲突及司法介入问题提供一个基层个案与视角。     

Egas Moniz and the Origins of Psychosurgery: A Review Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Moniz's Nobel Prize

Modern psychosurgery began in 1936 with the work of the Portuguese neurologist, Egas Moniz, who attempted to treat the symptoms of mental illness by severing neural tracts in the frontal lobes. This procedure eventually became widespread and applied to thousands of institutionalized, psychotic patients in the United States and other countries. Despite serious side effects associated with psychosurgery, the apparent importance and validity of the treatment was recognized in 1949 when Moniz received the Nobel Prize for his innovation. Psychosurgery was largely replaced by anti-psychotic drugs in the mid-1950s, and the procedure and its practitioners rapidly fell into disrepute. This article reviews Moniz's career, the factors that led up to his first clinical trials of frontal lobe surgery, and the circumstances that allowed psychosurgery to flourish in the 1940s, eventually leading to Moniz's Nobel Prize.     

Spaces of the political*

In changing geographic locations, metaphorically or otherwise, perceptions change. Drawing inspiration from ancient Peking rather than Leo Strauss’ Athens and Jerusalem changes the compass points of political theory. This is because it moves the centre of gravity away from the tension of reason and revelation toward a city built upon another way of approaching the world, through the channelling and harnessing of vital energy flows, known as qi. Peking is designed, through fengshui, to channel the vital energy know as qi away from intensities and toward productive (harmonious) ends. How have we moderns channeled and harnessed such (political) intensities? This work traces the flow of energy as it takes on modern political forms, expressed through the built environment. Taking the nineteenth-century’s Crystal Palace and a Maoist Museum as contrasting examples, it illustrates the way in which the built environment channels and transforms energy. In terms of the political, it is the dissipation or intensification effect of these machines that becomes the defining characteristic of difference between these two different political worlds. As modern machine-technologies, these two examples also shine a light on the ways ‘modernity’ has encountered and dealt with the telluric.
