The Persian Presence in Nineteenth-Century English Poetry: A Taxonomy

This study employs keyword searches of literary databases such as Literature Online (LION) in an attempt to map the image of “Persia” in nineteenth-century English poetry as it was molded by a proliferation of thoughts and ideas in a variety of contexts. Completeness is not possible, of course, but the article aims to identify and explore some of the major categories within which the image of Persia was formed and disseminated in the nineteenth-century. The scope of the study is not confined to a corpus of poetic works that were written specifically on or about “Persia,” but takes account of a broader range of poems, and attends to the structure, texture and variations of the presence of “Persia” in nineteenth-century English poetry.     

论《诗经·桧风》的创作时代

由于桧国微小,《诗经·桧风》在春秋时代就不受人重视,后人对《桧风》四首诗的主题解释也往往含糊其辞、牵强附会。本文运用组诗研究的方法,把这四首诗联系在一起分析,认为《桧风》创作于东周初年郑武公灭桧之后,它是一组桧遗民抒发亡国之痛的诗篇。     

《全宋诗·文彦博诗》辑补

文彦博是北宋的一代名臣,在文学和书法上也颇受推崇,传世文集有<文潞公集>40卷.<全宋诗>卷273至卷278"文彦博"条下辑录了他的诗集,集外又补辑8首,但仍有遗漏.本文主要根据<两宋名贤小集>和乾隆<济源县志>及同治<榆次县志>、<宋人小集>等文献,辑录集外佚诗计35首又2句.并勘正4处讹误.     

长江三角地区高速公路网络与城镇体系空间结构的分形研究

测算了长三角地区高速公路网络和城镇体系空间结构的长度维数,分枝维数、集聚维数、网格维数、关联维数等分形维数。研究表明,长三角地区:(1)高速公路网已具备分形结构特征,并以上海市为中心区域按自相似性向外延展;但路网密度尚未饱和,有待进一步加强,在连通性上还有更大发展空间;(2)城镇体系分布表现出自相似性结构,总体上仍呈空间集聚格局;但是基于220个县级城镇单位的随机分布出现了非向心性态势,说明城镇体系与高速公路网络尚未实现整合,网络需要完善;(3)地级以上城市之间的高速公路网络的联通度已经达到了甚至超过了极限水平。

《四库全书》所收南宋人胡元质重新编排注释的胡曾《咏史诗》,在今天看来至少具有三方面的文献价值,一可用以校勘文字,二可资以辑录佚文,三可据以推断某些古籍的亡佚时代。

补正《全宋词》周颉小传：周颉约生于宣和五年后;号适庵;绍兴十五年中进士后至孝宗乾道年间尝为州郡教授之类学官;乾道八年在四川宣抚使王炎幕府;淳熙三年知德安府,五年犹在任;曾官左司郎中,不晚于淳熙十一年,十二年仍在任;淳熙十三年初秋,出为荆湖北路转运司判官,贴职为直显谟阁,十四年十月后解任;淳熙十六年正月,以朝议大夫、直显谟阁提点浙东路刑狱公事,而非“两浙提刑”;光宗绍熙元年二月,除福建路转运使,贴职晋为直龙图阁;绍熙元年至三年间,曾提举福建路常平茶盐公事;至迟绍熙三年已致仕;约卒于宁宗庆元六年前后;著有《适庵集》。

Empires for Peace: Denis Veiras’s Borrowings from Garcilaso de la Vega

Writing The History of the Sevarambians in the 1670s, the Huguenot Denis Veiras borrowed many ideas from Garcilaso de la Vega, also known as El Inca, whose Royal Commentaries of the Incas was published in 1609. Both works describe the history of an empire and justify it on the ground that it brought peace and unity. While Garcilaso’s book purported to be a history, his selection of facts reflected his goal of improving the treatment of the Incas by the Spanish. Veiras’s story also claimed to be a history, but it was transparently a fiction, even to the point of lifting many elements from Garcilaso’s book. What both works equally emphasized was that empires could aim at, and could be justified by, the benefits they provided their subjects. Both tell stories of benevolent and paternalistic rulers who founded nearly ideal societies in the countries they conquered. These were models of empire for peace and unity rather than merely promoting toleration of differences or concord among differing parties. Veiras’s utopia thus offers an instructive case study of the effects of cross-cultural borrowings of literary and political ideas.
