MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE 11TH PANCHEN ERDENI

February 13, 1990 （the 19th day of the 12th Tibetan month of the Year of the Earth Snake of the 17th Cycle of Tibetan Calendar）： Gyaincain Norbu was born in Jiali County of the TAR.     

LINEAGE of The Panchen Lamas

In 1645, Gushri Khan （leader of the Mongol Hoshod which ruled UTsang） revered Lobsang Qoigyi Gyaincain （the fourth-generation disciple of Zongkapa, the 16th abbot of Tashilhungpo Monastery in Xigaze）, as the Panchen Bokedo （Bokedo being a Mongolian word meaning wise and heroic person）, and decided that the Xigaze area be put under the rule of the Tashilhungpo Monastery. This is the source of the title of Panchen.     

满文的创制与价值

满文的创制是我国满族发展史上、也是人类文明史上的一件大事。金代,女真人参照汉字创制了女真文,但随着金王朝的衰落。至明末,女真人已经完全丢弃了女真文字。努尔哈赤兴起之后,女真人讲女真语,写蒙古文,随着军事形势的飞速发展,这种语言与文字的矛盾已经不能满足女真社会发展的需要。于是努尔哈赤命噶盖和额尔德尼创制满文。这种草创的满文仿照蒙古文字母,根据满洲语言特点,没有加圈点,后人称之为“无圈点满文”或“老满文”。老满文在女真地区推行33年,发挥了巨大的作用。但它很不完善,亟需改进。天聪年间,皇太极命达海和库尔缠对其加以改进。经过改进的满文称为“有圈点满文”或“新满文”,较老满文更为完备。总之,满文的创制促进了满洲共同体的形成,加速了满洲社会的封建化。满族人用自己的文字进行思想交流,书写公文,编写历史,翻译典籍,保存了大量的民族遗产,也丰富了世界民族文化的宝库。     

利乐雪域 慈悲为怀

两个月前召开的中国共产党第十六次代表大会上,班禅额尔德尼·却吉杰布应邀列席了大会;去岁晚秋,班禅又参观访问了南方数省;昨夏,他的主寺札什伦布为他做了寿典,他还亲临几座寺庙做佛事活动,参观访问了企业、农家,后在北京还受到了政府总理朱镕基的接见……作为少年活佛,他的主要任务是研习佛学和其他各方面知识,另外他又非常关心、关注祖国及西藏的经济发展和人民的生活……     

十一世班禅浙江、上海考察纪行

正是盛夏时季,十一世班禅额尔德尼·确吉杰布在扎什伦布寺民管会主任喇嘛次仁等一行的陪同下,于2001年5月11日至6月27日在浙江、上海等地考察学习。 “上海真大,真漂亮！” 十一世班禅这次江南之行,是1995年他坐床以来的第一次,所以浙江、上海的所见所闻都是那么新鲜、那么迷人。 5月11日十一世班禅一行到达杭州后,住进了风景如画的花家山庄,第二天晚上乘车观赏杭州夜景,鳞次栉比的高楼,霓虹灯闪烁的大街,绿树如荫的林园大道,优美的生活小区……,这一切给十一世班禅留下了美好的印象。5月16日,十一世班禅一行游览了西湖景区,…

第十世班禅额尔德尼·确吉坚赞是一位伟大的爱国主义者。他的一生,是为维护祖国统一而奋斗不息的一生,是为国家的富强和民族的繁荣而辛勤操劳的一生,是为弘扬佛法,引导信教群众为人民谋福利的一生。正当班禅大师在各方面日趋成熟,在他的生命和事业处于鼎盛时期,正当藏族人民需要他,祖国需要他的时候,大师却因操劳过度、遽然西归。噩耗传

班禅额尔德尼.确吉杰布向舟曲灾区捐赠善款并颂经祈福 甘肃省舟曲县发生泥石流自然灾害的消息,牵动着中国佛教协会副会长班禅额尔德尼·确吉杰布的心。8月15日他通过中国佛教协会向甘肃舟曲灾区捐赠善款,并向各族受灾群众表示慰问。同时为受灾群众颂经祈福。

In the wee small hours of the morning of September 29, 1995, the ceremony of drawing a lot from the golden urn was held in Jokhang Monastery in Lhasa to determine the reincarnated soul boy of the 10th Panchen Erdeni. Curu Cenang, a famous Tibetan medicine doctor as well as astrologer, chose the auspicious day by studying the ancient Tibetan calendar.
