In this paper the Author proposes a damage model for the analysis of masonry plates and shells, which is based on an improvement of a previous constitutive model. The modifications introduced, connected to the head joint damage, allow us to study the influence of masonry texture on the damage modes once the mechanical characteristics of the elements constituting the masonry and the results of tests on simple assemblages are known. Having a nonlinear constitutive model is certainly one of the basic elements for understanding the damage mechanisms in masonry buildings. If, in fact, an elastic-linear constitutive model may be used under normal loading conditions, in critical situations it is necessary to model the damage and the dissipation mechanisms that occur between the elements, stone (brick) and mortar, in correlation with their characteristics and kind of masonry. To validate the model a comparison is made between the numerical and experimental results, in the case of tests available in the literature in masonry panels subjected to out-of plane loading and in a real structure through the observation of the damage in Umbria (Italy) surveyed after the 1997 earthquake.  相似文献

The archaeological discovery of the Acqualadrone rostrum (an offensive naval weapon mounted on the prow at the waterline), off the Italian coast near Messina in 2008, has led to the need for scientific research in order to plan the conservation treatment of this artefact. The discovery is exceptional because of the presence of a wooden section from the original ship. This paper describes the physico‐chemical characterization of a metallic and two wooden samples by inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma – mass spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 13C {1H} cross‐polarization magic angle spinning NMR spectroscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, gas chromatography – mass spectrometry and X‐ray diffraction. The results reveal the use of leaded bronze (Cu, 70%; Pb, 20%; Sn, 10%) in the manufacturing process of the alloy and the use of lead whose isotopic composition is referable to either Spanish or Cypriot mines. The analysis of the results relating to the wooden samples indicates their different state of preservation and, at least in some places, the spreading of caulking on the wood, probably using a vegetable resin.  相似文献

Pure precast beam-column systems incorporate unbonded reinforced at the critical sections, causing strain incompatibility between steel and concrete. As a result, classical section analysis method, well know for characterising monolithic concrete members, cannot be directly applicable to these systems. This paper provides a section analysis method suitable for precast members, incorporating, through an analogy with equivalent cast-in-place solution named “monolithic beam analogy”, an additional condition on the member global displacement. The proposed method was first validated with the experimental data from tests on beam-column Hybrid subassemblages. Using appropriate hysteresis rules and the response envelopes defined by the section analysis method, a prediction of the behaviour of the PRESSS test building was carried out. Satisfactory agreements obtained between the analytical and experimental results confirm the validity of the suggested methodology. Derivation of the method and experimental validation are herein presented.  相似文献

The development of alternative solutions for precast concrete buildings based on jointed ductile connections has introduced innovative concepts in the design of lateral-load resisting frame and wall systems. Particularly efficient is the hybrid system, where precast elements are connected via post-tensioning techniques and self-centring and energy dissipating properties are adequately combined to achieve the target maximum displacement with negligible residual displacements. In this contribution, the concept of hybrid system is extended to bridges as a viable and efficient solution for an improved seismic performance when compared with monolithic counterparts. Critical discussion on the cyclic behaviour of hybrid systems, highlighting the most significant parameters governing the response, is carried out.

The concept of a flexible seismic design (displacement-based) of hybrid bridge piers and systems is proposed and its reliability confirmed by quasi-static cyclic (push-pull) and nonlinear time-history analyses based on lumped plasticity numerical models.  相似文献

The role of residual deformations when evaluating the performance of multi-storey frame structures subjected to ground motion is investigated in this paper. The limitations of damage indices available in the literature, either based on ductility, energy dissipation or a combination of both, in capturing such a significant aspect of the seismic response of frame structures are discussed. The concept of residual deformations as a critical complementary indicator to cumulative damage, introduced in a companion paper (Part I) for single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems, is herein extended to multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) frame systems. The seismic performance of multi-storey frame structures, either representative of new designed or existing structures, is investigated, focusing on the response in terms of residual deformations. Residual deformations are shown to be sensitive to the hysteretic rule adopted, to the system inelastic mechanism as well as to the seismic intensity. The influence of higher modes and P-Δ effects on the final residual deformations is addressed. A combination of maximum drift and residual drift in the format of a performance matrix is used to define the system's global performance levels and is then extended to a framework for an alternative performance-based seismic design and assessment approach.  相似文献

Noise measurements were carried out at 381 sites in the Cologne area (Germany) using both short period and broad band sensors. The large number of data allowed both assesment of the influence of different sensors in the site response estimation and to compare the widely used H/V technique with the recently proposed Fourier Phase Spectral Method (FPSM). The results show that short period sensors are able to reliably retrieve site effects at frequencies well below their corner frequencies. Moreover, the H/V method should be preferred to the FPSM in determining the fundamental resonance frequency of soils. Finally, a map showing the resonance frequency distribution in the studied area was drawn using the results obtained applying the H/V technique.  相似文献
