Exploring a Strategic Turn: Case Study of Innovation and Organizational Change in a Productivist Dairy

Some firms within the conventional agri-food processing industry change their business strategy by trying to innovate towards alternative foods, like regional foods. For firms which are part of a larger organization or integrated in a group of companies this is a special challenge. The purpose of this paper is to explore what happens when a firm within a large and complex organization tries to turn from a productivist strategy to a differentiated strategy. This exploration uses a case study from the Norwegian dairy industry. The case shows that powerful industrial conventions and lack of suitable organizational conditions can be a hindrance for organizational change. Organizational capabilities to change routines and conventions have significant influence on the result of the innovation process.

The text of G.B. Conte's Teubner edition (2009) contains more than 70 divergences from Mynors' edition (1969), apart from a number of orthographica. About 40% of these differing readings can also be found in Geymonat's text (1973/2008 Geymonat, M. 1973/2008. Opera Torino/ Roma [Google Scholar]). Among the rest this reviewer has noted a handful of choices of particular interest and fit to make the new edition a welcome contribution to the long-standing quest for an optimal text of Vergil. The author defends amice (“in a friendly way”, “showing goodwill”) discussing the use of the adverb amice elsewhere and especially the problem of its reference.     

Numitorius’ Parody of Vergil,Ecl. 3. 1–2.

Numitorius’ line should be read: non, verum Aegones nostri sic rure locuntur (instead of Aegonis), i.e. a generic plural ‘(people like our Aegon’).

In the first part of this article the author analyses veris umbris (894) as part of Vergil's re-interpretation of the Homeric Gates of Dreams ( Od. 19.562-567). He believes that the text can be restored to its original function and meaning by bracketing 896 ( sed falsa ad caelum mittunt insomnia Manes ). In the second part he advocates a transposition of 893-895 (minus 896) to follow 897-898.     

Critica (IV) some fresh conjectures on Horace: Epistles II and Ars Poetica

In this article I propose (1) to delete et at Ep. 2. 1. 46, (2) to read vati instead of vatem at 2. 1. 133, (3) his instead of hic at 2. 2. 84, (4) non ita longe instead of non ita pridem at Ars 254, and (5) to put a question mark after natura at 353.     

Textual and Exegetical Issues in Vergil's Fifth and Seventh Eclogues

(I) At 5. 3 read considimus instead of consedimus, (II) at 8 certet instead of certat, (III) at 38 pupurea instead of purpureo, (IV) at 66 understand altaria as apposition to duas tibi, Daphni as well, (V) at 7. 5 take pares not as a predicative, but as governing cantare (‘equally competent at singing’) reflecting Theocr. 8. 4. (VI) Arguing against identifying Micon (29–30) with Corydon I take si proprium hoc fuerit (31) as expressing Corydon's own hope as a hunter, (VII) I modify the usual interpretation of Thyrsis' response (33–35), (VIII) find the idea that Thyrsis impersonates Galatea in 41–44 improbable and (IX) at 64 prefer the ancient reading Veneris instead of corylos.     

‘1968’ IN NORWAY: PIECEMEAL,PEACEFUL AND POSTMODERN

The first part of this essay presents an outline of ‘1968’ in Norway focusing on national particularities, especially the lack of violence. Three elements are highlighted: the political left turn with the opposition to the Vietnam War and the strong Marxist‐Leninist faction as main aspects; the student revolt; and the multifarious countercultural movement. The theme of the second part is the state of Norwegian 1968 historiography. Here a distinction is drawn between actors‐cum‐historians and historians proper, or rather between writers with a desire to commemorate – predominantly but not exclusively former communists – and writers whose interest in the events is more professionally historiographic.
