The restoration of destroyed connections of epistyles joined together by means of metallic connectors is among the most difficult problems encountered by scientists working for the conservation/restoration of monuments made of marble. The complexity of the geometry and the interaction of three completely different materials (metal-filling material-marble) constituting the connection render the study (either experimental or analytic) extremely complicated. In this direction a numerical analysis is presented here in order to deeply understand the response of a typical ancient connection subjected to axial loads as well as to quantify the influence of some geometric parameters on its response. The parameters studied include the length of the connector, the width of its flanges, the depth of the groove (mortise), the existence or not of relieving space and the filling material’s volume. The numerical model was calibrated and validated according to the results of an earlier experimental study realized on the worksite of the Parthenon Temple. It was concluded that the interventions required to relieve the stress field by changing the size of the connector are disproportional to the respective positive effect on the response of the connection. Moreover it was proved that the most beneficial parameter is the relieving space.  相似文献

The following study presents the results of instrumental analyses performed on the excavated textile find HTR73 from the Kerameikos cemetery in Athens. In Greece, preservation of excavated textiles is rare, mainly due to the unfavourable environmental conditions prevailing. The Kerameikos textile find is from the 5th century BC, and has been preserved in association with copper, which is the most common type of preservation in Greece. Past analyses had indicated the presence of silk fibres, of the Bombyx mori silkworm, the use of which was not common in Classical Greece. In the present study, non-destructive instrumental analytical techniques were applied, namely ESEM and FTIR microspectroscopy, for the purpose of material identification. None of the techniques applied confirmed the presence of silk. However, cellulosic bast and possibly cotton fibres were identified. The presence of cotton is an equally rare phenomenon for the Classical period in Greece.  相似文献

In this article, I analyze the rise of the “Lausanne Syndrome” in Turkish politics during the twenty‐first century through the prism of ontological security theory. The arguments are presented through the examination of the legacy of the “Sèvres Syndrome”, the impact of the Turkish‐Israeli diplomatic break‐up during the 2010s on the Turkish self‐narrative, and the declaration of the second war of independence following the failed coup attempt of 2016. The “Lausanne Syndrome” serves both as a domestic and foreign policy tool, as it relates to Erdo?an’s search for ontological security and geopolitical strategy.  相似文献

The kantharoid-cup examined here may serve as an examplar of the various currents which are evident in the pottery producing traditions of archaic Lydia. Although our knowledge of Lydian pottery is still in great need of enrichment features derived from other regions are apparent in finds made in the Sardis area, and beyond. The kantharoid cup is clearly decorated in a manner firmly anchored in archaic Lydian practice, but ultimately derived from an East Greek source. Its shape, however, is borrowed from eastern traditions, specially – as realia and iconographic representations show – from the Achaemenid repertoire. It is in this context, as an item of emulation of élite practice, that the adoption of this particular shape in Lydia is best understood.  相似文献
