Wer sucht,der findet. Über die Münchener Emblemdatenbank

The present contribution informs about the project “Retrospective digitization of selected emblem books of the early modern period” supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). The first part aims at a definition of the genre and at a presentation of its sources. In addition, it gives a brief abstract of the history of research and proves the interdisciplinarity of this subject. The second part describes the project's development and the conception of the Munich emblem database.     

THE SPACES OF NATURE: INTRODUCTION

The articles in this section aim at critical reappraisal of space from the viewpoint of the materiality of human action which is underpinned by a special focus on its dealings with nature. Space is primarily viewed by others than geographers and/or from outside Scandinavian and Anglo‐American research. The role of language and culture, as well as using the possibilities of ecosemiotics grown out of the Tartu–Moscow school, is highlighted in an attempt to enliven discussions of lived space and human relationships with nature.
