So many Glasgows: From ‘personality of place’ to ‘positionality in space and time’

This paper investigates place and positionality in the regional novel against a background of evolving trends in geographical scholarship of place and placelessness. In re‐examining the representation of Glasgow in the urban regional novel, it proposes that a qualitative difference exists between rural and urban epistemologies which relates to the profoundly temporal essence of ‘cityness’. Aspects of both multi‐dimensionality in urban time‐space and of the city as the locus for working‐class oppression are reviewed in the context of a selection of urban imaginings.     

Carnivores and their prey in the Wezmeh Cave (Kermanshah,Iran): a Late Pleistocene refuge in the Zagros

Wezmeh Cave is located on the northeastern edge of the Islamabad plain, a high intermontane valley in the western‐central Zagros. In 1999 a disturbed but large faunal assemblage was recovered from this site. The abundant and extremely diverse faunal spectra present at Wezmeh Cave has highlighted the importance of this assemblage. Carnivore remains constitute the bulk of the assemblage; red fox (Vulpes vulpes) has the highest number of identified specimens followed by spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta), brown bear (Ursus arctos), wolf (Canis lupus), felids (lion, leopard, lynx/caracal and wildcat), mustelids (badger, polecat, marten) and viverrids (mongoose). Artiodactyls (bovid, cervid, suid), equids, rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sp.) and small animals (Cape hare, porcupine, tortoise, snake, birds) are also present. According to U‐series dating, the site was occupied from around 70 ka BP through to sub‐recent periods by carnivores. Amongst this rich assemblage, a human fossil tooth was also found and dated by non‐invasive spectrometry gamma dating to 20–25 ka BP. A preliminary zooarchaeological and taphonomic study shows that Wezmeh Cave was used by multiple carnivore species, a unique phenomenon in the Zagros Mountains in particular and southwest Asia in general. 《平南传》问世后被认定为贵州首部历史小说,成书于明代。本文将该书与有关史籍对比,并根据明代职官等制度及有关人物的经历作考证,提出不同意见。又从故事情节及语言文字推测其成书年代,判断文学、史料价值。     

基于空间自相关的江苏省县域经济实力空间差异研究

本文选用14项代表性指标对江苏省县域经济实力空间差异进行分析并探讨了其形成原因。研究结果表明:①江苏省县域经济实力得分的全局自相关系数为-0.0691,说明就经济实力来讲江苏省县域之间存在弱的负相关性;②全省经济格局从南向北呈现"三峰两谷",地级市市区的经济实力高于周围县的经济实力;③经济发展水平因子、经济结构因子和经济效益因子三者的空间集中程度不同;④苏南地区随着距上海距离的增加,经济实力空间相似程度逐渐递减。     

不同模式下城市郊区居民工作日出行行为的比较研究——基于北京与广州的案例分析

本文选择北京、广州的两个典型社区,分别作为转型期中国城市居住郊区化"政府主导模式"与"市场主导模式"的代表案例,基于两个社区的活动日志调查数据,比较两个社区居民的工作日出行行为,以此探究居住郊区化模式对居民出行行为的影响,在国内已有时间地理学研究基础上进行城市间直接比较研究的尝试。研究发现:政府主导的居住郊区化模式为居民提供了较完善的活动机会与便捷的出行环境,但并没有避免职住空间错位;市场主导的居住郊区化模式无法提供完善的活动机会与良好的出行环境,居民日常活动高度依赖于内城。     

Why do business service firms cluster? Small consultancies, clustering and decentralization in London and southern England

Notwithstanding their remarkable recent growth, surprisingly little research has hitherto been conducted on the evolving geography of professional and business services in Britain. This paper analyses the results of a detailed survey of 300 small and medium-sized management and engineering consultancies, in investigating the forces underpinning both the striking clustering of such firms in central London and their growth in decentralized locations of East Anglia and South West England. Particular attention is paid to the notion of clustering, the role of demand-side influences, localized 'collective learning' processes, and increasing globalization in clustering, and to so-called 'enterprising behaviour theory' in explaining decentralization.     

Moral economies of food and geographies of responsibility

This paper uses the concept of 'moral economy' to challenge the conventional view that defines morality and the market as oppositional terms. Drawing on evidence from life history interviews with key actors in the British food industry, the paper outlines how moral and ethical questions are articulated through notions of space and time. Using case study material from the chicken and sugar industries, the paper examines the way that ethical and moral issues are expressed through the dimensions of time (via notions of remembering and forgetting) and space (via notions of connecting and disconnecting) and via notions of visibility and invisibility. The paper concludes by examining how our understanding of the moral economies of food can be advanced through the adoption of a relational view of geographical scale and temporal connection, contrasting the attribution of individual blame with a politics of collective responsibility.     

关于洛阳金谷园汉墓IM337的年代——兼论洛阳地区出土的南方釉陶

洛阳金谷园IM337号汉墓的年代,原报告推定为“东汉中期-晚期”,本文认为该墓实际上是一座西汉晚期墓葬。本文还就该墓中出土的釉陶器进行了分析,认为已知洛阳地区出土的同类釉陶器的年代均集中在西汉晚期至新莽时期,应属于直接从南方输入的产品。     

基于动态实时调度的主题公园游客时空分流导航管理研究

本文针对主题公园游客时空分流导航问题进行了研究,提出了一种与现实情形极为吻合的最小代价实时策略,借此构建了面向景点负荷均衡的游客导航分流模型,并用实验模拟了整个动态调度过程。实验结果表明,该导航模型能有效地引导游客前往等候时间最短的景点,很好地解决在各景点上负载不均的问题。通过在时间和空间上的科学的分流设计,既能提高游客的满意度,又便于景区人员随时掌握景区内资源的使用情况,提高景区常态化管理的质量,从而加速旅游、经济和生态的可持续发展。
