Abstract

Data from interviews with accomplished poets is used alongside findings from neuroscience, to examine three aspects of writerly invention: automaticity, emotional knowledge, and the social dimension. Writerly invention references the creative process writers use to originate ideas via writing. It is shown that a three-dimensional view of writerly invention becomes tenable when scientific findings are viewed in a consilient manner with the introspections of poets. In addition, a call is made for the sciences to help elucidate a mind-state found to be germane to writerly invention — the receptive stance.  相似文献

Abstract

Relying on modelling protocols and examples of cross-border models, it is argued that an increasingly deliberate, self-aware use of modelling enhances constructive interactions from the arts to the sciences. Models are tailored from materials used in their environments of application in order to enable the performance of desired tasks, e.g. metaphorical constructions in poetry. They are suited for interdisciplinary interactions when their domain of application is allowed to extend beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.  相似文献

Abstract

The author’s book of poems Nitrate is evaluated as a model for a poetry that is a medium of research. The collection is positioned within Rachel Blau DuPlessis’ understanding of the essay form as involving ‘the play of speculation’ borne from curiosity and need — the need to examine opinions and contradictions and to interrogate cultural materials’. Nitrate explores the birth of cinema as a by-product of scientific exploration into the problem of understanding motion, and the specific significance of the French physiologist E. J. Marey and his chronophotography. The title reflects the importance of cellulose nitrate, introduced in 1889 and used until the 1950s as the — frighteningly flammable — basis of film stock. There is also discussion, accompanied by illustrations, of the visual collages produced in dialogue with the poems as part of the understanding of practice-based research.  相似文献

Imaginings and uses of place in Northern Ireland are characterised frequently by sectarianism, leading to the strict territorialisation of space along cultural, political and religious dividing lines. It is argued that such geographies underpin the six counties' ongoing intercommunal conflict. Extrapolating from the work of feminist economic geographers J. K. Gibson-Graham, this paper suggests that in order to fracture the monolith of spatial sectarianism, attention must be paid to imaginings and uses of place which sidestep or move beyond the tendency to exclude. Here I examine poetry by Michael Longley and Sinéad Morrissey for its alternative envisaging of place, and argue that these particular instances of opening out a spatial imaginary are of import both in a Northern Irish context, and further afield.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper introduces a new teaching method, poetry, into the geography classroom, accompanied by an out-of-class discussion on a blog, and finds that its effects are rather different from those of traditional teaching methods, as it allows new perspectives on instructional content related to migrant workers’ lives and identities in China. The method enables students to analyse content from the perspective of cultural geography, in which poetry acts as an art form that connects people’s identities and social spaces. On the basis of this, we also provide some suggestions to engage students in critical analysis of poetry, from the perspective of cultural geography, through interactive online platforms such as blogs.  相似文献

语文教学追求诗意的课堂,音乐更是诗的延伸.是诗的魂灵,音乐课又怎能够不充满诗情画意?在我们的音乐课,那更应是充满诗情画意的,因为教材更多偏重于对音乐的欣赏,那行云流水般的天籁之音,那历史沉淀的经典之作,那流行的时尚元素,无不诉说着心灵最美的诗。而大点的学生已有一定的文学素养,他们年龄就是一首最美的青春之歌,心中荡漾着对未来的美好懂憬与向往,看什么都会在心中吟成一首懵懂的小诗,他们的作文已少了童年的稚气,语言也更成熟,头脑中会有无数色彩绚丽的画面,这是他们的年龄所致,这也是我们音乐课堂更应充满诗情画意的理由之一,理由很多,但如何让音乐课堂充满诗情画意是做音乐教师应不断思考的。  相似文献

The Muslim conquest of the Holy Land from Christendom, the invasion of southwestern Europe in the eighth century, and the Christian struggle, ultimately unsuccessful, to regain the Holy Land from Islam in the Crusades dominated European culture, particularly its poetry, for centuries. From the Old French epic, The Song of Roland (c. 1100) to the Albanian epic, The Highland Lute (early twentieth century), a vast popular culture grew in European vernacular languages in response to Muslim invasions and conquests. This article attempts to elucidate in panoramic form a neglected area of nationalism. It argues that from the medieval period until the fall of the Ottoman empire, poetry was instrumental in the rise of European national identities, partly in reaction to centuries of ascendancy of Islam, which undermined the authority of the Pope, the universal Church, the Gospel and Latin. The defeat of the medieval Church opened the way to narrower, more national and cultural concerns, reflected in a cluster of vernacular European poetic traditions.  相似文献

上海博物馆藏吴伟《词林雅集图卷》,描绘了弘治十八年(1505)浙江按察佥事龙霓在金陵与友人雅集的场景,雅集者多为其同僚,或同级、同科进士,也有部分诗友。此次雅集兼具送行与雅会的性质,又可堪称诗社之发轫。是图创作于雅集之后不久,即弘治十八年。吴伟此图兼取了送行图、雅集图、宴乐图的创作手法,白描线条轻快简淡、而不失工谨、细劲,其独特的风貌创造了雅集图的新形式。  相似文献

出郭九行”是对清初文学家魏禧及其兄魏际瑞九首叙事诗的总称。这组诗以沉痛的笔调描述了顺治末年百姓在官兵掳掠、盗贼横行之下的惨痛生活,是对杜甫“诗史”精神的践履;在艺术手法上,也吸收了杜甫叙事诗的艺术精华,并予以活用,体现出杜诗在清初诗坛的典范意义。  相似文献
